Before you clean your lens.
Check the equipment manufacturer’s care instructions first. This guide covers gentle external cleaning; it does not cover camera sensors or internal components.
Remove loose dust.
Hold the lens opening downward and use short, gentle puffs from an air blower. Keep the nozzle clear of the surface and never insert it into the camera body.

A soft brush can lift remaining loose particles on suitable external surfaces. Use light pressure and follow the lens maker’s recommendations for coated optics.

Use a clean section of optical microfiber cloth. Keep cloths for glass separate from those used on the camera exterior. Avoid rubbing grit across the lens.

Replace caps and put the lens in a correctly sized pouch. Measure with both caps fitted. A padded pouch adds cushioning, but does not make a bag waterproof.
